F.A.Q.'S
(FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)
1. Why can't you quote me a price over the phone?
In today's times there are many more options available when it comes to transmissions in vehicles, some auto manufacturers may use 3 or 4 different transmissions in the same model depending on the options. For this reason we have to be able to determine the exact transmission in your vehicle, then we have to diagnose the problem, some problems don't always require a complete rebuild. Also with all the computer controls in vehicles today, the problem might not be directly related to the transmission, but there are many steps taken by the specialist to determine the final repair and costs involved.
2. I was told I needed a Transmission Service & Flush. Why?
Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) which is the oil in your transmission that drives the transmission, is being subjected to many pressures while it does its job. It is providing a lubricant, it is being subjected to high pressures, and heat. All of these factors can cause the eventual deterioration and breakdown of the fluid, when this happens it can not do its job effectively anymore and can cause many other problems internally inside the transmission. To prevent this from happening you should have a qualified technician perform a transmission inspection, service, and flush on a yearly basis or more often if you use your vehicle for heavy towing, or in dusty conditions. A proper service and flush including changing the transmissions filter can help extend the life of your transmission, or give you some forewarning of a potential problem before you have a failure.
3. Why should I have my transmission rebuilt, rather than just buying a used transmission?
When you drove your car yesterday, did you have a problem with your transmission? That's because you won't always have a warning of a problem before it happens. When you purchase a used transmission, you don't always have all the information available to you, such as what is the mileage on the vehicle it is coming out of, how the vehicle was used, when was the last time it was serviced, and is it definitely the right transmission for my vehicle. When you have your transmission rebuilt by a specialist, they take the time to make sure that everything is correct for your vehicle, they are able to perform any updates that were put in place after your vehicle was manufactured, you are now aware of the mileage on the transmission, and you are covered by a warranty.
